Question: Who is a Lithographer?

Answer: A lithographer is a person who makes plate and camera negative film materials for printing. Lithography is an age-long profession and has been developing over the years and is still developing. For this reason, it is expected that the lithographer must be current and know how to operate the different kinds machines that has to do with lithography. .

Question: What does it take be a lithographer?

Answer: A person who wants to be lithographer must be intelligent, patient, and must also pay attention to every detail. He must also have an inquisitive mind. Apart from the above mentioned points the person needs to at least have a minimum of secondary school education. This will enable him to notice errors that might have been made in the process of making the plate and or negative film. The error may be that of calculation. This can only be noticed by someone who is educated at least to the level of secondary education.

Question: Who can be a lithographer?

Answer: The nature of the job of lithographers does not discriminate between the male or female i.e. the male and female can learn it. It also does not involve so much stress that may be a kind of difficulty for the female.

Question: How many years does it take to learn lithography?

Answer: It takes between a minimum of 11/2 and maximum of 4 years to fully learn it. This of course depends on how quickly the person who is learning is able to understand.

Question: What is the importance of lithographers to the society?

Answer: Lithographers are very important in this modern-day society. This is because a lot of things are being printed everyday. Books, magazines, posters, invitation cards, stickers etc are some of the things that have become part of our daily lives and the lithographer is involved in the printing process. This makes them very important.

Instruments and accessories of the lithographer

1. Surgical knife: This is used for trimming and patching papers.

2. Steel ruler: For measuring 

3. Gum: For holding papers together

4. Chemical: This is used in the process of developing the plate that will eventually be used for printing

5. Printing Plates such as 201, 211, Kord, Sord etc.
