“Our religion takes its hue (colour) from Allah and who can give a better hue than Allah.It is he whom we worship.”
"Our religion takes its hue from Allah ... " The root meaning of sibghah implies dye or colour. A colour is the distinctive quality possessed by an object. More than just mere colours, sibghah symbolises the character that a people have. The features that stand them out of the pack.
While the features of all other things could be shared by another of their kind because Allah has created all things in pairs
“glory to Allah who created in pairs all things that the earth produces as well as their own (human) kind and (other) things of which they have no knowledge.” (Q36:36)
the religion of Islam alone possesses distinctive features that are unique and peculiar to it. This is because the symbols of Islam are divine emanating from the Almighty, the Source of all intelligence and the Creator of all He wishes.
Allah has chosen Islam as the natural religion and made it the standard for mankind:
"So set your face steadily and truly to the faith ... that is tile standard Religion:. " (Q30:30).
The symbols and features of Islam are perfect. its foundation is firm, its rites pure and its form uncrooked and this because it is from Allah, the Source of all perfection:
"...this day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. "(Q5:3).
Islam has been made clear. It is not encumbered by dogmas that are contrary to reason. Its worship is easy and for Allah alone. Its worshippers are chosen and named by the Almighty Himself. Allah says of the believers:
"...He (Allah) has chosen you, and has imposed no difficulty on you in religion; it is the religion of your father Ibrahim: It is He who has named you Muslims, both before and in this (revelation). … " (Q22: 78)
"... and who can give a better hue than Allah ... " Allah is pure, the source of all purity and all that flows from Him are devoid of blemish or error.
He is one in His perfection and He is qadir ala kulli sha'in (powerful over all things). None shares in His perfection, power and purity;
"And there is none like unto Him" (Q112:4).
Thus pone can accord a better feature or character than Him. To believe otherwise is to engage in shirk (associating partners with Allah).
"...It is He whom we worship."
Allah is the cynosure of the eyes of all believers. He alone gives life, He alone sustains life, He alone takes life and He alone will raise it again for retribution. Quite naturally, He alone deserves to be worshipped. This truth runs through the Qur'an and this truth is taught by Allah Himself: "Say: "Verily my Lord has guided me to a way that is straight, a religion of right the path (trod) by Ibrahim the true in faith and he (certainly) joined not gods with Allah Says:
“Truly my prayer and my service of sacrifice my life and my death are (all)for Allah the Cherisher of the worlds: no partner has he: this am I commanded and I am the first of those who bow to his will.” (Q6:161-163).
what is left is to match what we do to what we say. All our symbols, forms, rites, ways and other acts of worship must "...takes its hue from Allah" for indeed
"... who call give a better hue than Allah? .. "(Q2: 138).
