Dear kiddies, have you ever heard about the journey called al - Hijrah. It is the journey made by the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessing be upon him) with the Muslims from Makkah to al - Madeenah. Based upon the year of this important journey, we, as Muslims used it as the reference for the counting of the lunar months beginning with Muharram and ending with Dhul- Hijjah.
The story about the hijra is very interesting and filled with lessons for everyone. Happy reading.
Aaisha (RA) the wife of the prophet narrated that I never remembered my parents believing in any religion other than the true religion (that is islaam), and (I don't remember) a single day passing without the messenger of Allaah(peace and blessing be upon him )visiting us in the morning and in the evening. When the early muslims where troubled by the pagans of Quraysh the tribe of the prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
Abu Bakr (RA)set out on a journey to the land of Ethiopia. But when he reached a town called Bark-al-Ghimad, he met a man called Ibn Daghina ,the the chief of the tribe of qara who said, "O Abu Bakr! Where are you going? Abu Bakr (RA) replied: "My people have turned me out of my country, so I want to wander on the earth and worship my lord But Ibn Ad-Daghina knew how good and kind hearted Abu Bakr (was) so he said, "O Abu Bakr! A man like you should not leave his country, nor should he be driven out, because you help the poor people who have nothing, earn their living, and you keep good relations with your kith and kin. You also help the and you entertain your quests generously. You also help those who are in difficulties. Therefore I am your protector. Go back and worship your returned and Ibn Ad-Daghina escorted him. In the evening Ibn Ad-Daghina visited the leaders of Quraysh and said to them: "A man like Abu Bakr should not leave his home, nor should he be driven out.
Do you people drive out a man who helps the poor, earns their riving, keeps good relations with his kith and kin helps the weak and powerless, entertains his guests generously and helps the persons in difficult conditions?" So the people of Quraysh could not refuse Ibn Ad-Daghinas-protection, and they said to him, ᄚLet Abu Bakr worship . his Lord in his house, He can pray and recite there whatever should not hurt us with it, do it publicly, because we he may affect our women an -Ibo Ad-Daghina told Abu Bakr of all that.
Abu Bakr {RA) worshipped Allaah in his house . He neither prayed publicly, nor did he recite Quraan outside his house. Then an idea occurred to Abu Bakr (RA) to build a mosque in front of his house, and there he use to Pray and recite the Qur'aan The woman and children of the pagans began to gather around him in great number. They used to wonder at him and look at him.
Abu Bakr (RA) was a man who used to weep too much ,and he could not help weeping on reciting the Qur'aan . That situation made the chiefs of the pagans of Quraysh afraid ,so they sent for Ibn Ad-Daghina When he came to them ,they said,`` We accepted your protection of Abu Bakr on condition that he should worship his Lord in his house ,but he has not fulfilled the conditions and he has built a mosque in front of his house where he prays and recites the Qur'aan publicly . We are now afraid that he may affect our women and children in a way that we do not like.
So, prevent t. him from that If he likes, let him worship his lord in his house, but if he insists on worshiping Allaah his lord openly ask him to release you from your obligation to protect him, for we dislike to break our agreement with you, but we do not want Abu Bakr (RA) to announce his worship outside his house." Ibn Ad-Daghina went to Abu-Bakr and said: O Abu Bakr! You know well the agreement I have made on your behalf ,now, you are either to abide by it , or else release me from my obligation of protecting you , because I do not want the Arabs to hear that my people have dishonoured an agreement I have made on behalf of another man.
Abu Bakr (RA) replied . "I release you from your agreement to protect me ,and am pleased with the protection of Allaah. So what happened to Abu Bakr (RA) after this event? What about the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the rest of the muslims? Find out in the next edition .Insha Allaah.
