We have quoted in full the hadith narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh from Abu Hurayrah(RA), at the end of which it states that the destruction of the Dajjaal will come at the hands of 'Eesa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him):
"Whilst they (the Muslim army) will be preparing to fight, or will be in rows, then theIqaamah for prayer will be said. 'Eesa ibn Maryam will descend and lead them to fight the Dajjaal. When the enemy of Allaah sees him, he will melt like salt in water. If 'Eesa were to leave him alone he would melt away completely, but Allaah will kill him at his hands, and he will show them his blood on his spear. (Muslim).
In another narration, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Their leader (i.e. the leader of the Muslims who will be preparing to fight the Dajjaal) will be a righteous man. When he would step forward to lead them in Fajr prayer, 'Eesa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) will come down to them. The Imam will step back so that 'Eesa (peace be upon him) may come forward (to lead the prayer). 'Eesa (peace be upon him) will put his hand between his shoulders and say to him, 'Go forward and lead the prayer, for the Iqaamah was said for you.'
So their Imam will lead them in prayer, and when he has finished, 'Eesa (peace be upon him) will say, 'Open the gates.' They will open them, and behind them will be the Dajjaal, accompanied by seventy thousand Jews, all of them carrying adorned swords. When the Dajjaal will see him, he will start to melt like salt in water and he will run away…
('Eesa) (peace be upon him) will catch hold of him at the eastern gate of Ludd (a famous city in Palestine near Ramlah), and will kill him. Allaah will defeat the Jews, and there will be nothing that Allaah has created that a Jew hides behind, but Allaah will cause that to speak no rock, no tree, no wall and no animal, apart from the box-thorn (al-Ghraqad), which is one of their trees and will not speak, (everything else) will say, “o Muslim slave of Allaah, here is a Jew, come and kill him" (Saheehal-Jami' as-Sagheer)
