Last edition, we started with the signs that will come just before this world will come to an end. We have mentioned two signs that will occur i.e. the smoke and the emergence of the Dajjaal .In this edition we are continuing with the sign that has to do with Dajjaal. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said he is the greatest trial that will befall mankind therefore, it is important that we know much about him. Let us see some more information about him.
Other descriptions of the Dajjaal
Apart from him being one eyed, the Dajjaal will be recognised by these other characteristics:
Kaafir will be written between his eyes
There is a sign by which Allaah will make the Dajjaal recognisable to every believer, to the exclusion of others i.e. non-believers will not be able to recognise him. This sign is something written between his eyes:" kaa'faa' raa" or Kaafir. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
No Prophet has ever been sent but he warned his nation about the one-eyed liar. Verily he is one-eyed, and your Lord is not one- eyed. and between his eves is written 'Kaafir." (Bukhari)
He will not have any offspring ..
The Messenger of Allaah informed us that one of the things that we will use in recognising the Dajjal is that he will have no offspring. The evidence for this can be found in Sahih Muslim.
He will have the ability to travel rapidly.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the speed of Dajjaal's movement throughout the earth and he said:
"(it will be) like the clouds driven by the wind.." (Muslim)
He also said that the Dajjaal will travel around the earth and will not leave any-city without entering it, apart from Makkaah and Madeenah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said "There will be no city which the Dajjaal will not enter apart from Makkaah and Madeenah. (Saheehal-Jaami' as- Saqheer).
He also said that:
"He will not leave any part of the earth without entering it and prevailing over it, apart from Makkah and Madeenah. He will not approach any of their gates but he will be met by angels with unsheathed swords." (saheeh).Al-Jaarni' as- Sagheer).
The state of the Muslims at the time when the Dajjaal will emerge.
Just before the Dajjaal emerges, the Muslims will have a high status and great power. At that time there will be a peace treaty between the Muslims and the Romans; they will attack a common enemy and defeat them, then war will break out between the Muslims and the crusaders. Dhu-Makhbar related:
"I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
"You will make a peace treaty with the Romans, and you and they will attack a common enemy, You will be victorious and will take booty, then you will return safely, until you came at marj Dhi Talool. Then one of the Christians will raise the cross and say, “the cross has attained victory.” One of the Muslims will become angry and break it (the cross). At that point the Romans will break the treaty and start preparing for the great battle." (Sunan abi Dawood)
