Take a look back at what you did on waking up this morning. If you are like me, you probably woke up when your alarm clock would not let you be, stretched lazily, switched it off quickly and went back under the covers. Your excuse; you had to make Dua: (Alhamdulilahi ladhi ahyaana baada ma amaatana wa ilahin nushuur All praise is due to Allaah, He who revived us to life after giving us death, and to him we shall have to return.) But of course, you slept off right after "Alhamdulilah" only to be woken up by a member of your household reminding you that it is time for Salaah! You probably stretched again and reluctantly stood up, walked to the bathroom to dean up, perform ablution and then observed your Salaah. Don’t worry, you are not about to be condemned; only to be reminded that you have every cause to be grateful to Allaah not just because; among other reasons, you are lucky to have not only woken up, but to have limbs that work.
The human body consists of among other things the limbs; both upper and lower that are made up of the arms, fingers, thighs, legs, toes, and so on. We know that Allaah the Creator made this so. Allaah created us with limbs solely for the purpose of worshipping Him, for He says:
"And I (Allaah) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone). "[51 :56].
However, we are most times guilty of using those limbs in acts of disobedience to Allaah. For instance, we walk to places we shouldn’t go to, take things that do not belong to us without permission" sit in the midst of those who backbite and involve in vain talk, look at things we shouldn’t be looking at, sometimes perform acts that we know are unlawful and even bury ourselves deeper into worldly things like watching television and playing games when we can clearly hear the call to Salaah (Adhaan).
The list is endless. Has it ever occurred to you that it may be better for Allaah to take away the use of those limbs from you than for you to use them in disobeying Him? Remember that on the Day of Judgement, they will testify against us of we do not make good use of them. Allaah says:
"On the day when their tongues, their hands, and their legs or feet will bear witness against them as to what they used to do: On that day, Allaah will pay them the recompense of their deeds in full and they will know that Allaah- He is the Manifest Truth. "[24:24-25]
