The Quran is also sent to us as a healing by Allaah:
"And We sent down from the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe and it increases the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong doers) nothing but loss." (Q 17:82).
Allaah makes us understand that the Quran was also mentioned in the books of the other religions. He says:
"And verily, it (the Quran and its revelation to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is announced in the scriptures (i.e. the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) of former people. "(Q 26:196).
Are we not then lucky to be Muslims and to have the Quran as our book and guide? Of course we are! Unfortunately, most of us take the Quran for granted. We handle it carelessly or ignore it completely.
For many of us, it is just one of those books that are forgotten on the bookshelf, left to gather dust over the years, only to be remembered at the times of trouble or sorrow. This is very wrong. The Quran should be our companion at all times. Or how can you live by its teachings when it remains permanently kept away? Some of us are even collectors of various copies of the Quran. We love buying them only to display them on shelves for guests to see (Subhanallah!). Of what use is your Quran to you when you do not recite and ponder on it? Many of us can finish novels with as many as 500 pages in two days but cannot finish reciting the Quran in a year! It is very important for us to always recite our Quran. Allaah says:
"The Messenger will say: 0 My Lord, Verily my people treated this Quran with neglect. Thus we have made for every prophet an enemy among the sinners: but enough is thy Lord to guide to help. " (Q 25: 30)
Can you imagine life without the Quran? It would be one that leads to eternal destruction! Alhamdulilah for blessing us with Islam and the Quran!
"Which of the favours of your Lord will you deny?"-Soorah 55 (Ar-Rahman). concluded
